Description: |
Assisting Dept. Head in the following areas: Head office reporting in Japanese GAAP, Accounting control of New York Branch, Financial regulatory reporting to US regulatory agencies, Accounting guidance (both US GAAP and Japanese GAAP)
EXPERIENCE: At least 10 years of accounting experience in financial institutions (foreign bank preferred) or public accounting experience on financial institutions in major CPA firms. CPA required. MBA degree preferred.
Knowledge of banking accounting standards under Japanese GAAP (JICPA).
Good knowledge of banking accounting standards under US GAAP, especially the following: 1) FAS 115 “Accounting for Certain Investments in Debt and Equity Securities 2) FAS 133 “Accounting for Derivative Instruments and Hedging Activities 3) FAS 138 “An Amendment of FASB Statement No. 133” 4) FAS 52 “Foreign Currency Translation 5) FAS 114 “Accounting by Creditors for Impairment of a Loan 6) FAS 91, “ Accounting for Nonrefundable Fees and Costs Associated with Originating or Acquiring Loans and Initial Direct Costs of Loans” 7) FAS 125 “Accounting for Transfers and Servicing of Financial Assets and Extinguishments of Liabilities” 8) FAS 157 “Fair Value Measurement 9) FIN 46 “Consolidation of Variable Interest Entities”
10) FIN 48 “Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Tax”. Knowledge of bank’s internal accounting control concepts and JSOX compliance. Good knowledge of Fed Regulation D (Federal Reserve Requirement), NY State Superintendent’s Regulation Part 322 “Pledge of Assets and Maintenance of Assets by Licensed Foreign Banking Corporations in NY”, and general banking regulatory requirement. Good knowledge of local regulatory reporting requirements for foreign bank, including Federal Reserve Bank, NY State Banking, Treasury Dept., Bank of Japan, Ministry of Finance, etc. Good product knowledge of derivatives (interest rate swap, currency swaps, foreign exchange contracts, forward rate contracts, interest rate options, credit derivatives), deposits and credit products (loan syndication, loan participation, loan securitization, trade finance activities, letter of credits, etc.)
SKILLS: Knowledge in system applications in accounting, especially Oracle General Ledgers. MS Office (Excel, Access, Word). Good database management skills. Good financial analytical skills. Good oral and written communication skills. Good problem solving skills.
Japanese language skills are a plus, NOT required. |
